Fun & Friends

Good friends Kevin & Anita

Our friends Kevin & Anita Haight flew in from Idaho to spend a few days this week and had a couple extra tickets to a Casting Crowns concert down in West Palm Beach for Saturday night. They asked us if we wanted to go and we happily obliged. I had personally only heard one song of theirs and wasn't sure how I would like the concert, but thought we would try it out. They turned out to be a pretty good band. I was impressed by the way they put scripture in the concert and also at the end all the members pulled up a stool and sat down and each one prayed for all different situations of the people in the audience. They also mentioned that they walked through the seats prior to the show and prayed for each person that would be there that they would feel the presence of God! Each of their songs had a message, which sometimes you don't always hear.

Below is also a video(not a very good one) but you can see someone painting a picture as they are singing. This guy did an awesome job painting!

Project time

One of Brittany's projects at school recently was to make a snowman and put him in a setting. Of course she would decide she wanted to do a beach theme. Not sure how a snowman works at the beach, but she did it anyways. So needless to say we had to go shopping to find some beach ideas. We headed out to Michaels and found some flip flops, flowers for a lei and a surfboard. So above as you can see, is what she came up with. I thought it turned out rather cute.

Day of Mourning

Madame Lucy Francine Peridot

Monday Lucy our basset hound started vomiting alot. And by midday had became very week. She then started vomiting blood. By the time we got home from the office she was barely able to move. We carried her to the back room where the floor would be easier to clean. She barked almost nonstop from the time we went to bed until at least 2:00 am when I finally fell asleep. I woke up at 4:00 am and it was eerily quiet in the house. I knew she had probably slipped into doggy heaven, but I couldn't make myself get up to see. When we got up to get the kids ready for school Rod found her in the back room where it looks like she had peacefully slipped away in the night.

Cinderella,Cinderella......Poor Cinderella!

My poor kids think they are so abused because they actually have to work around the house. They all claim they are Cinderella because we make them mop the floor on hands and knees once a week, besides the regular sweeping and damp mopping it receives throughout the rest of the week. These poor kids have to clean their own rooms and put their own laundry away too. And sometimes they even have to wash their own clothes. Not by hand! The washer actually washes them, but they might have to put them in the washer and turn it on. Such Abuse!
Some People think we may be mean to make our kids do such work, but I think it is a training process for when they get older and have their own homes to take care of. I'm not always sure we are teaching and training the right way, but we try our best. Hopefully when they grow up they will appreciate what they have been taught and not feel they were made to do a bunch of work for no reason.

Poor Britt has to sweep the floor

Are we actually smiling while scrubbing the floors?

Visitors from the North

Rod's sister and brother-in-law came down to spend a week in the warm weather. Although we had to work everyday, we did get to run around a little. We took them to City Place one evening for pizza and some shopping. We got to see the fountain. One of the kids favorites! Afterwards we headed back to Tequesta for one of our favorite ice cream shops, Palm Beach Ice Cream. The kids love it because of all the flavors and it's homemade. Yummy!

Below is a short video of the fountain at City Place. It's very pretty at night.
